This past weekend was full of stuff I love. Pregnancy, nutrition, rebozos, Gena Kirby, CrossFit, and catching up with some dear friends from my Sacred Pregnancy retreat. I’m finally getting a chance to write about it and at least share some love. On Saturday, I drove up to CrossFit Anacapa to host a BirthFIT Basics workshop. The workshop was three hours and covered topics such as misconceptions of birth, designing your own birth plan, nutrition to promote a healthy pregnancy, and of course, the topic of fitness and modifications. The environment was relaxed, yet everyone was eager to learn and participate. I believe that everyone walked away with two new pearls of wisdom, and for that, I am grateful.
On Sunday, I drove down to Fullerton to see the one and only Gena Kirby teach her rebozo workshop. I met Gena back in November at our Sacred Pregnancy retreat, and our energies connected immediately. This woman is passionate about what she believes in. Gena is the rebozo goddess as well as a doula, a La Leche League International Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, and serves on the Board of Directors of Attachment Parenting International. My past weekend was booked solid. I made use of every freeway in Southern California- 405, 101, PCH, 105, 91, and even the little ‘ole 90. That said, I wouldn’t change a thing. I expressed love and knowledge. I learned new techniques. And, I reconnected with old friends and made new ones.
