I am Lindsey Mathews. I am the founder of BIRTHFIT. I am also a Doctor of Chiropractic, Webster Certified and obtaining my ICPA Diplomat, a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (Strongman & Powerlifting as well), a birth doula, and a HypnoBirthing® Practitioner. I have been caring for pregnant and postpartum as well as attending births and designing prenatal/postpartum movement plans for women for the last four to five years.
One thing that I offer that is unique and special is the official BIRTHFIT Postpartum Treatment. I view birth at the biggest athletic event of a woman’s life. Therefore, through working with countless professional and Olympic athletes, I have carried over the same treatment practice that I would use on the best soccer player in the world to the woman that just gave birth.
I’ve spent many hours with athletes and actors prepping them for their big game or stunt scene and aiding in their immediate recovery. The more we prepped, physically and emotionally, the better they did in the big game or big scene. But what made the biggest difference in the body’s recovery, so that they could go back to play in two days or rehearse again the next day, was the immediate healing treatment we did.
If an athlete played a game and actor performed a demanding stunt, I insisted that we do treatment within 12-24 hours of the event. That way their bodies can heal in ideal alignment. For women that just gave birth, I suggest treatment within the first seven days of birth.
Just as I would treat at any hour of the day for the world’s top athletes, I do that for you mothers that just gave birth. You just gave birth (vaginal or cesarean) and your body needs to be taken care of, so that you can take care of your family. You deserve it!
